CSUN at #11 LMU Thursday; Matadors Host Omaha Sunday

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—The CSUN men’s soccer team concludes a three-game road trip Thursday night when the Matadors head to nationally ranked Loyola Marymount. The match will get underway at 7 p.m. with a stream on West Coast Conference Network.

CSUN returns home Sunday morning when the Matadors host Omaha at 11 a.m. The CSUN Sports Network will have an audio stream of the match at GoMatadors.com/radio.

Loyola Marymount is 3-0-1 after defeating UC Irvine 1-0 in overtime on Sept. 5. LMU is ranked 11th in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25, 11th in the Top Drawer Soccer Top 25, and 18th in the College Soccer News Top 30 poll.

Noel Caliskian and Jack Salus have both scored two goals to pace the Lions this season. Jacob Jackson is 2-0-1 with nine saves in 300+ minutes this season in goal. He has given up only one goal. This is the 24th meeting between CSUN and LMU with the Matadors leading the all-time series 11-10-2. Loyola Marymount has won three in a row series including a 2-0 decision in the last match between the clubs in 2019.

Omaha is 0-3 before a Sept. 9 start at UC Irvine. Malik Elmi has scored the only goal of the year for UNO entering the week. Lute Lillo Portero has made three saves in two starts. Omaha head coach Bob Warming is in his 44th overall season as a collegiate head coach. His 479 wins (479-263-88) are the ninth most by a Division I coach in the history of the game. This is the fourth all-time meeting between the two clubs with the all-time series knotted up 1-1-1.

UCLA defeated CSUN 4-0 Monday night in Los Angeles to drop the Matadors to 0-4 on the season. The Bruins scored all four goals in the first half.

Tickets are required for entry to the Omaha match. Adult tickets are $8, Youth tickets are $5 while groups of 10 or more are $3.
