And Marca newspaper (via Football London) confirms that coach Thomas Tuchel has chosen Aurelien Tchouameni as his number one target and wants Chelsea to recruit the Monaco star at all costs in the summer of 2022.
Tchouameni has emerged as one of the best young talents in European football over the past year, to become a mainstay for Monaco and the French national team.
Despite having two top-notch midfielders, N’Golo Kante and Jorginho, Chelsea still have problems when one of them is injured. With Kante and Jorginho both in their thirties, Tuchel wanted to be fresh in midfield and had a reason to choose Tchouameni.
Conor Gallagher is expected to return to Stamford Bridge after his loan spell at Crystal Palace, but his form has not dampened Chelsea’s interest in Tchouameni. The 21-year-old – valued at €80 million by Monaco – is also on the Red Devils’ radar.
Paul Pogba played alongside Tchouameni in France’s 2-1 win over Spain in the Nations League in October and praised the midfielder. Pogba said: “Very, very good. He is not a boy, he is a man.
Nice to play alongside Aurelien. He brings a lot of energy. So much energy, quality, technique and extraordinary physicality.”
